Khatu Shyam, often known as Shyam Baba in Rajasthan, is the son of Ghatotkacha, the popular character in Mahabharat, who was the son of Bhim. Barbarika is the original name of Khatu Shyam, which is of Sanskrit origin, changed to Barbarik in Hindi, also spelt as Barbareek.
Hindus worship Barbarika, whose temple is located at Khatushyamji village of Rajasthan, for relief from difficulties as this power Khatu Shyam acquired as boon from Lord Krishna, along with Lord Krishna’s own name Shyam to be his name in Kali yuga. Kali yuga is the present term of four yugas called Satya, Treta, Dwapara and Kali, and human beings are undergoing their last of this era, in accordance with vedic literature.
KhatuShyam temple is located in about 80 km from Jaipur.
